Click on the links below to take an underwater journey along the length of the District's discharge pipe. You will discover the healthy and abundant marine environment that has been thriving in this area for years.

Goleta Outfall Part 1
|
Part 1 starts in 70 feet of water and shows the diverse marine live that can be found along the discharge pipe as you dive toward shore. You will travel through the lush kelp forest growing on the ballast rock which protect the outfall pipe. Along the way, you wil see 5 different species of starfish, 3 phases of tube anemone, 5 species of rockfish, and many other healthy marine animals. Finally, the video ends near the shore in 10 feet of water where the topsmelt fish flutter by.

Goleta Outfall Part 2
|
Part 2 taken in March 2002 uncovers the abundant marine environment found at the very end on the discharge pipe. The attached marine animal community predominates in about 80 feet of water. You will see one of several spectacular strawberry anemones growing immediately next to one of the 36 four inch diffuser ports. Healthy limpets, gorgonians, sea pens, and scallops are shown flourishing in their natural environment.
